Manager applauds young striker for fine display
After the Grecians’ dramatic 3-2 victory away at Accrington on Saturday, manager Paul Tisdale reserved particular praise for striker Tom Nichols for an all-action display that was topped off by two fine goals.
Two fine goals aside, the 20-year-old forward produced a performance of all-round quality that saw him cause chaos to the Stanley centre-halves and bring the rest of the City team into play.
“Tom was fantastic – he was like a dynamo,” said Tis. “Forget the goals to begin with – he retained the ball as well as I’ve seen any centre-forward do it.
“He put pressure on defenders, and for a 20-year-old that was a heck of a performance. And it was capped by two great goals.”
