Reidy talks about international expeirences
The reverse journey to face Saturday’s visitors Newport at Rodney Parade doesn’t come until March – but one member of the City squad has already had to make the journey across the Second Severn Crossing once this year.
Striker Jamie Reid needed to make a journey to South Wales at short notice – so that he could get his passport renewed at the Newport passport office, when he was called up for international duty with the Northern Ireland under-21 team!
“I was at the Devon County Show with the missus when I found out! I was just having a good day out, but I started getting a lot of messages from the chairman and board members saying ‘well done’ and ‘congratulations’. I thought perhaps they had only just found out that I had been to the training camp, but then I got a call from Mike Radford who told me that I had been called up for a European Championship qualifier.
“I was a bit worried at first, because I didn’t have my passport ready! I had to go to Newport and get that sorted – so that’s all that was going through my head at first. But when that was all done, I just couldn’t wait to get out there and have some new experiences.”
You can read the full interview with Jamie Reid in this weekend’s copy of The Grecian – where he covers matches in Cyprus, Belgium and the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland, as well as his verdict on international football.
