NPS support is on the Doorstep

Management Service providing support to FITC

Exeter City’s Football in the Community department are delighted to have teamed up with NPS South West Ltd to provide support for the Exwick Doorstep Club, a new project which is now up and running in Kinnerton Way.

Doorstep Clubs are an initiative from the Football League Trust, in partnership with StreetGames, to engage and then keep disadvantaged youngsters involved in sport and this is a 30-week programme which runs every Thursday evening. A second club is also running in Wonford.

Danny Harris, sports development officer at FITC who runs the sessions, said the club were delighted to have NPS involved with the project.

“The sessions involve outdoor sports, such as football and basketball, as well as indoor ones, so the provision of the different coloured bibs by NPS really helps us in delivering team sports,” Danny said.  “It’s also a boost for the young people involved when they see local companies interested in what they are doing and supporting them.”

NPS South West Ltd provides a range of property design and management services across the region and as they work extensively in the education sector, Chris Jay, director of design and maintenance for the company, said they were particularly pleased to support initiatives aimed at enriching the lives of young people locally.

“Visiting the StreetGames session in Exwick, I was inspired by the atmosphere of enthusiasm and sheer enjoyment,” Chris said.  “This project demonstrates the positive and long lasting impact sport can have on youngsters and NPS is proud to be involved.”
