Join the party at the Park!
Much has been published in the press recently over the extraordinary circumstance by which The Brazilian national team’s first ever match was played against our own Exeter City 100 years ago this July.
A fact like that is worth celebrating, isn’t it? And celebrating is what fans of the Club intend to be doing at St James Park on Sunday 20th July starting at 2pm. Everyone associated with the club is hoping to be joined by as many people from our great city as possible.
Up at the Park we will have sideshows, face painters, BBQ food and the bars will be open! Music will be provided in the afternoon by Street Heat Samba Band and Daniel Rangel from Brazil playing traditional Brazilian tunes with his friend Henry Dunne. In the evening, Velvet Touch – famous in the South West since the 1960s – will be playing. City once played Brazil, but Velvet Touch have supported The Who!
There will be loads for youngsters to see and do: Buddy Bear from Crealy Great Adventure Park is joining us, as is Basil the Brazilian parrot and Grecian the Lion. There will be a fire engine, football games, Brazilian horse-racing and a few surprise guests too!
And our friends from Radio Exe will be with us throughout the day. There will be no parking so come by bus… Stagecoach are kindly adding a City special open-top to their fleet in the City that afternoon!
We hope you will come and help celebrate our City’s extraordinary place in football history and have a really enjoyable Sunday out in the process.
