Supporters fund new floodlights at SJP
This week has seen the installation of new floodlights at St James Park that you, the supporters, made possible. They will get their debut in our forthcoming match against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday 22nd November.Your amazing response to the Supporters’ Trust appeal raised a total of £12,200 – allowing the club to not only purchase and install the lights, but even leaving an amount for future maintenance. Staff at the Club negotiated with the Football Association for an extension to time, allowing them to source the lights, getting a great deal in the process, and install them.
The Club and Trust would like to thank all those who gave their time and money to make such a great success of this project. Four supporters’ groups each gave over £1,200, with eight other groups, businesses and individuals giving over £200 each. The rest was raised through bucket collections, small change moneyboxes, discos, raffles, quizzes, sale of memorabilia and the Brazil Day at St James Park.
As well as using the floodlights for the first time at the Shrewsbury game, there will also be the unveiling of the ‘thank you’ plaque in Red Square in the presence of major donors, and a cheque presentation on the pitch at half-time.
