The St James Park Development

Community and stakeholders to play a leading role in the future prosperity of Exeter City Football Club

Exeter City Football Club has today launched The St James Park Development.

This major new initiative, which is in the very earliest stages of formulation, will significantly improve the Club’s spectator facilities.  Alongside this, an enabling development with a commercial partner will be undertaken on part of the site and other land which will directly contribute to the commercial success of the initiative.

These plans will together provide a major boost to the club’s current and future work within the community and meet key elements of the Club’s Mission Statement, as produced by the Supporter’s Trust and Club itself.

In order to formulate plans that represent the best possible proposals for St James Park and the surrounding area, Exeter City and its development partner will be conducting a rigorous and wide-ranging public consultation around these emerging plans.

This process will take place over the coming months, and will involve discussions with supporters, the Supporters’ Trust, local groups and institutions that have a stake in Exeter City’s success.  An initial public event will be held over two separate sessions in order to present the initial version of these development proposals.  These events will be held on:

• Friday 24th July, from 2pm until 7pm
• Saturday 25th July, from 10am until 1pm

All are warmly invited to these relaxed and family-friendly events, which will be held in The Grecian Lounge, Exeter City Football Club, St James Park, Stadium Way, Exeter EX4 6PX, where there will be light refreshments provided.

If these dates are not convenient, a number of other ways will be available for members of public, supporters, community groups and others to provide opinions and comments to the project team.

A purpose-built website has been set up to provide further information on the public consultation process, design images and sketches as they emerge and to provide an opportunity to leave feedback.  This will be updated throughout the consultation process and is available at: www.thestjamesparkdevelopment.com

Chairman of Exeter City Football Club, Julian Tagg, said: “I am very excited to launch this initiative, which I hope will be a significant step in the long-term prosperity and financial independence of Exeter City Football Club.

“As a supporter-owned Club, a key part of our Mission Statement is the delivery of a viable financial performance, the developing of first class capabilities (both on and off the pitch) and engaging with our members, supporters and the wider community.  These plans have the potential to significantly bolster these aims and to uphold our overall Vision of being an outstanding community-owned club.

“We are deeply invested in Exeter, its community and its residents and treat community liaison with the utmost seriousness.  That is why supporters, local businesses, institutions and residents can all expect to play a key role in the development of these plans. I look forward to conducting a wide-ranging discussion about the next stages of this initiative.”
