Chairman Julian Tagg has issued the following statement after queries were raised with regards to a redundancy of a member of staff at St James Park.
The statement is as follows: “The club board has undertaken a 360 review of the staffing, which has been going on for the last six months, with the assistance of outside professional help, and staff were made aware of the process before the start of the season.
"Our business faces constant challenges and changes in terms of new demands and skill sets – we’ve got a new development coming up with health and safety aspects and there are constant challenges. Obviously, I can’t speak about individuals and any redundancy is regrettable, but we’re in a position where the business needs to progress, with those aspects and considerations in mind.”
