Fourth annual tournament held at University of Exeter
It was a thrilling final for Exeter United, who were the winners of Exeter City’s One Game One Community's fourth Futsal tournament held at the University of Exeter Sports Centre on Sunday, April 23.Exeter United beat the team T P Mazembe, named after the Congalese football club based in Lubumbashi, 2-0.
The semi-finalists who did not make it to the final, but were praised for doing well were Chorizo United, who lost 2-1 to Exeter United and A C Heavitree, who lost 4-2 to T P Mazembe.
The tournament, the fourth to be held, was organised by Exeter City Football in the Community and was supported by the University of Exeter, Devon FA, the Exeter City Supporters Trust and its One Game One Community Group.
Entries were particularly sought from local black and minority ethnic players and other community teams.
Teams which took part were from across Exeter, Devon and also included a Devon and Cornwall Police team.
The Exeter City One Game One Community Group is part of the national Kick it Out campaign which aims to address all types of discrimination in football including race, disability, age, religion and sexual orientation.
The annual outdoor summer community five-a-side tournament, for both female and male teams, will be held in July.
