September saw the Foundation winner ‘back on the pitch’, with winner Katherine Astbury being presented with her cheque for £1,000 at half time during City's match against Crewe Alexandra from City’s operations manager Andy Gillard.
Katherine is perhaps not your typical City fan, or indeed football fan, being an academic based in the Midlands with a special interest in French 18th Century theatre. However, football is very dear to her heart, watching City since her time in Exeter as a student in the early 1990’s, which included being taken to the Park on her fist date with her future husband – fortunately resulting in a 4-1 victory.
They rarely missed a match during their time in Exeter, since moving to Coventry they aren’t able to attend so many home matches, but do get to many of City’s matches played in the Midlands.
Katherine has a few plans on what to do with the money, eying a short break in North Devon with the family, and taking in a West End show at some stage. Of course, she plans to have some left over for the Grecians next appearance at Wembley, whenever that may be.
The Exeter City Foundation is a great deal, particularly for those who are regular supporters of the club.
For just £10 per month, members are entitled to a range of prizes and, if a season ticket holder, the additional benefit of cash back or a voucher for the ECFC Shop. The City Foundation draw runs throughout the year, and overall there are sixty-seven prizes – of which sixty-four are cash prizes – all of which means that members have a GREAT chance of winning, all winners are Exeter City supporters' and net proceeds go to good causes at the club.
