A last call is being made for items to go in the time capsule that will be buried under Exeter City’s new stadium development for future generations to discover and enjoy.
The initiative, which is being coordinated by the Supporters Trust's Exeter City History Group, is part of the Heritage Lottery Fund supported Exeter City football club museum project, a collaboration with the University of Exeter. The capsule will be logged with the International Time Capsule Society.
Anyone with any Exeter City related material that they would like to be considered for the time capsule should make contact with the history group by the end of April.
Items could include:
- photographs
- newspapers/clippings
- books
- small items of memorabilia eg scarves, badges and rattles
- posters/prints
Donations can be delivered for consideration to the Trust stall before the Chesterfield and Crawley Town home games or by making arrangements with the history group via reception or by e-mailing: Historygroup@exetercityfc.co.uk
Please note that once the items are buried you will in all likelihood not be able to retrieve them.
If too many items are received the history group will create a digital version of the capsule for all items and only place in the actual capsule the items that are thought best to represent the history of the club and that actually fit in the capsule.
“What a wonderful opportunity to leave a City memento for future generations to discover,” said Paul Farley, chair of Exeter City History Group. “We are very grateful for items already received and look forward to more deposits being made. It is fitting that this is a fan driven venture and the more items we have the better the capsule contents will be.”
