Redevelopment update from the club board: January 5

The latest update on the St James Park redevelopment from the club board.

The demolition and removal of the Stagecoach Old Grandstand and its foundations is now complete.

At the Christmas break the piling mat platform was about 75% complete. Some of the crushed foundation material used in the mat had to be subsequently removed after it was deemed not suitable. The rest of the hard material is being imported this week to complete the mat.

The piling rig will arrive on site on January 8, and if no unexpected problems are encountered the piles should be complete in two weeks. The piling rig will be 18m high, the same height as our temporary floodlight pylon.

If the piling operation runs to programme the concrete pile caps, ring beams, foundations and retaining walls will start the week of the January 22.

If those works progress smoothly the erection of the steel frame will commence in early March.
