The Exeter City match day ambassadors have raised over £2000 for the Exeter City Academy through selling team sheets and running the popular Tombola.
Last season the volunteer Ambassador team gained enormous EFL and even some international acknowledgements for the excellent service they provide helping new, visiting and existing supporters with queries and directions.
On match days, the ambassadors staff the information point and the approaches to the stadium with their 'I' information signs. They also played a significant role staffing the World cup Fan Zone inside St James Park
As part of their programme they provide handouts and badges for the younger (and some older) supporters. There is a small entertainments team that provide face painting, visit by magician and the Red Square tombola stall.
The Tombola stall offers other things such as free ice pops for the kids, sweets and team sheets for a small donation. All the funds raised from the tombola and team sheets go directly to helping the Academy with extra finance.
Richard Knight, Supporter Liaison Officer, was full of praise for the commitment and match Day support of the Ambassador team. He said: "The ambassadors do an amazing job in making sure both home and away fans are welcomed and looked after at St James Park.
"Their sterling efforts have been rewarded with EFL recognition, for which I can't thank them enough."
Through the tombola and team sheet donations they raised a huge £2001.96 for the Academy. The majority of the Ambassadors can be seen on the pitch in the picture at the top of the article presenting a cheque to Arran Pugh the Academy operations manager.
Arran was delighted with the donation. He said: “we have used the majority of the money to buy some really nice new mini goals and some inflatable samba goals for our Academy players to use at the Training Ground. Thank you so much once again for such a fantastic donation.”
Why not be part of it?
If on occasions you can spare up to an hour before game helping supporters please email customerservices@exetercityfc.co.uk. We would be pleased to hear from you to help with this important service. With the new Stagecoach Stand due to open at the end of next month the Ambassador service will be very stretched.
It is important that we keep this voluntary service well-staffed. If you can help them out for the hour leading up to kick-off on an occasional or regular basis please contact one of them at the next match.
Full training will be provided. We would particularly like help from season ticket holders who will be using the new stand.
