The first CITY Community Trust networking event takes place on Thursday, June 27 between 2pm-4pm in the Heritage Lounge at St James Park.
The guest speakers are Tom Chapman and Peter Aitken, from The Lions Barber Collective.
The Lions Barber Collective is an international collection of top barbers which have come together to help raise awareness for the prevention of suicide. Tom has spoken at many events, including TEDxExeter and recently met the Duke of Cambridge to talk about their work and the impact they are having.
Suicide is THE biggest killer in young people, over 1,600 people take their lives every year, in the UK somebody takes their life every 120 minutes. Three quarters of these shocking statistics are men. Barbers are in a unique position to help their clients, through the trust and bond they build with them. An incredibly strong relationship where clients become friends and can share aspect of their lives, then walk out the shop and leave it behind knowing it goes no further because of client confidentiality and the fact their barbers are often not in their social circle.
Event sponsors, Cartridges Law will also be on hand to talk you through any legal and HR issues around mental health in the workplace.
There will be plenty of time for networking, plus a highly informative health, wellbeing and mental health seminar.
The cost is £15 per person, which includes tea/coffee and cake.
