April’s winner of the BIG Foundation prize of £1,000 is Kelvin Groves, who was presented with his prize from Club Secretary Andy Gillard at the recent sell-out home match against Colchester United.
Kelvin is a relatively recent ‘convert’ to supporting the Grecians, have a read of his story below:
"I am a relatively new ECFC supporter. Being a Tiverton lad, I’m a yellows supporter first and foremost, but my support for the Grecians has grown over the last 4 years from watching an occasional match to now being a season ticket holder on the Big bank, also joining the Trust and Foundation.
"I have developed quite an affiliation to the club over this time and have brought my 7-year-old daughter a couple of times and she is also a Junior Grecian. I love the atmosphere, the family feel and the ground and its facilities are impressive and make for an enjoyable visit. Its nice to feel a part of something and that your support is valued and appreciated, that is such a part of my love of the non-league game whereby you can visibly see how your money and support makes a real difference.
"My favourite game has to be the 4-0 win over Plymouth just prior to the first lockdown (a fantastic atmosphere, a great team performance and if I remember rightly lovely weather). I had even brought my ticket for the away 'derby' that season which was so unfortunately curtailed with the onset of the lockdown, so that trip has had to wait. I have seen players on loan at Tiverton developing, Josh Key and Jordan Dyer most recently, and now seeing Alfie Pond doing so well, a real player to watch in the future."
