August’s Foundation winner Is Barry Wedlake, winning a BIG £1,000. Unfortunately, Barry is hospitalised at the moment, so won’t be able to receive his prize on the pitch, however being a Foundation winner has given him a timely boost at a difficult time!
As with all our Foundation winners, Barry has an interesting back story of supporting the Grecians:
"I was the youngest of four brothers living near Dawlish, my next eldest brother and I developed an interest in football in general and Exeter City in particular. In November 1954 - and that is going back a few years! - we were treated to our first trip to SJP, only to see the Grecians thoroughly thrashed 7-1 by Leyton Orient. Despite such a set back, not long after my brother and I were making frequent visits to the Park. Now nearly 68 years later I attend with my daughter, we both have season tickets in the new Stagecoach Adam Stansfield Stand.
"My favourite players were Dermot Curtis or Lammie Robertson, going back a few years there. More recently, I enjoyed the playoff matches against Oxford and Torquay away, and home against Carlisle. Other memorable games include the Promotion game away against Rotherham last time we achieved League One status.”
Barry is moving house at the moment so the money will come I very useful. To cap it all he is the hon sec for the Senior Reds supporters group!
