📝 We won - so they won: Port and Cheltenham Winners

The first two winners of the Carpetright #WeWinYouWin competition for our new season in League One are Stoke Hill Under 14s football team and Bradninch Women’s football team.

The groups each win £500 in the competition, which sees Carpetright donating £500 to a south west sports club every time Exeter City win a game. And it doesn’t have to be football - last season a range of sports clubs benefited, including water polo and baseball.

Stoke Hill Under 14s will use the donation to buy new kit. Steve Woodward, team manager, said: “The money will go towards a new training kit as they have not had one for a few years due to covid, helping others out and now they have had growth spurts and outgrown their kits!

“The boys last season helped out the girls with a team kit as they were just starting off as a new team and struggling to find a sponsor to get their own kit to play in. They have been really good and supportive at helping the other teams out so that everyone had something to wear to represent playing for Stoke Hill. A great team effort. A new kit would make them happy and be a lovely surprise ready for the new 22/23 season.”

Bradninch Women will use the funds to buy new equipment for the team which has competed in the Devon women's league for the last three seasons, with 22-23 being their fourth outing.

Leigh Brooks, manager of Bradninch Women, said: “We've always been self funded through player subs…what we struggle with is the additional funds to buy equipment like match balls, training balls, new bibs, pumps, as well as the smaller but essential equipment needed to help the players grow and develop, allowing the coaches to provide better quality sessions and the club getting gaining a better reputation, which will to attract more young women to the game.”
