Matt Taylor was reluctant to praise the performance of his side but was relieved of the three points.
Speaking after City's 2-1 win over John Yem's Crawley, the Grecians manager said:
"The performance was nowhere where it needed to be, there were a few tired bodies, a few tired minds out there. We lost our intensity early in the game. It means I can understand them physically and mentally, but three points are three points."
Tim Dieng netted twice in the game and Taylor was full of praise for the man-of-the-match.
"He was our best player in the first half. He took his goals really well. Not only can he head the ball but he can shift it onto his left foot and score that way as well. He was in the right place at the right time. We understand what will be written in the headliners in terms of that second goal, but I'll be honest I don't care tonight. We've got the nowse and character."
