Matt Taylor praised his sides efforts as the Grecians were held at home by Salford City.
Speaking after the game, the manager said:
"I thought we played really well from 30 minutes onwards. We got in some really good progressive positions. We were just lacking our end product today. There were a few 'nearly' moments but not enough in the 18-yard box."
It was a stop-start affair but Taylor thought his side found a rhythm despite the nature of the game.
"We started to find our groove at times. That second half perofrmance I was pleased with, whether that was with Sparkes or Key down the wings. We didn't quite threaten enough through the middle. We made it easy enough for the centre-halves and they defended the box really well."
