Two youth football teams are latest groups to benefit from Exeter City and Carpetright’s ‘We Win You Win’ competition.
Thanks to club sponsor Carpetright, south west based grassroots sports teams can apply for a grant of £500 every time Exeter City wins a match. And the latest winners are Whipton Youth under-12s and Exmouth United Girls.
Whipton Youth under-12s will use the donation to buy club tracksuits for the team and Exmouth United Girls will use the funds to offer more opportunities for girls to play football.
Paul Baker, coach and committee member of Exmouth United Girls, said the group had grown from eight to 49 girlstraining and playing regularly.
He said: “We'll be looking to expand our offering next season, taking on 1-2 new teams at younger age groups. The expansion does carry greater costs, with increased fees for training pitches, additional requirements for equipment and kit. A contribution towards these additional costs would be hugely appreciated and relieve some of the financial strain created by the rapid growth of our team. Additional coaches will also be required to help with the extra teams, so funding to help pay for training courses would be incredibly useful.
“We want to do all we can to encourage girls to remain active and involved in football. We’ve developed some excellent players, with 13 currently attending Exeter City’s Girls Development Centre across three age groups.”
Applications to the We Win You Win competition can be made every time that Exeter City win a match. Teams can apply for the fund by sending a pitch to Carpetright, explaining who they are and why they deserve help. Email entries must be no more than 350 words and should be sent to wewinyouwin@carpetright.co.uk
