Saturday's match winner Reece Cole says the Grecians need to carry their strong league form into Tuesday night's Carabao Cup match.
City take on Stevenage in the second round, fresh from Saturday's late 2-1 win over Reading and will be looking to build on that as they bid to make the third round of the competition for the first time since 1989.
"We've got to keep on our form and go and get the win, said Reece. "We have done really well in these five or six games and it doesn't matter if it's league or cup we have to go get the win.
"Every game is a tough game. Stevenage have had a good start to the season so hopefully we can set them down a little bit.
"There is competition for places as we have so many talented players in the squad, training is brilliant and everyone is working hard, and you see the gaffer makes changes so you've got to be ready!"
