Gary Caldwell is pleased to announce two new members of staff to his backroom team.
Michael McBride joins the club as our new Head Physio, while Lauren Jones joins on a secondment from Southampton as Match Analyst until the end of the season.
McBride is an experienced physiotherapist with years of experience, having spent over 20 years working with the Scotland senior men's national team. He also worked with Caldwell during his time as Wigan Athletic and Chesterfield manager.
Speaking about McBride, Caldwell said: "Michael is someone I have known for a long time. I've known about him coming for a long time and he has worked with Sam [Alfieri, Sports Therapist]. He is a fantastic character and someone who will drive standards in the medical department."
Lauren's arrival signals a strengthening in the club's growing partnerhship with Saints, following the loan deal for Kegs Chauke earlier in the season. She will be working with the exisitng match analysis team as the team enters a crucial part of the season.
"Lauren is someone Marcus [Flitcroft] identified that we could bring in to the analysis side. She's been in a few days but has already shown what qualities she will bring," Caldwell said.
"This is what we have to do as a football club, to evolve and look to be better - not just on the pitch but in all aspects of the club.
"I think it is a great idea to work with Southampton like this. It is important as a club that we get people on loan from Premier League teams, whether that be players or staff, and help with their development via this great link that we have," Gary added.
