Gary Caldwell has given his reaction as the Grecians fought to a point against a battling Forest Green Rovers side.
A below par first 60 minutes from the Grecians saw City trail to a Jordan Garrick goal, but Jevani Brown's equaliser sparked his side into life, who threw the kitchen sink at their bottom-of-the-table opponents.
"It should have been three points based on the last 20 minutes, I thought we were outstanding, but I'm very disappointed with how we played in the first hour," Gary said.
"We guarded against it all week what could happen after winning two games, but our message as a staff didn't get through - we were really poor, didn't show any life or have great body language. It wasn't until we made the subs that we really started to play.
"Half time came good at a point for us as it was an opportunity to have a word and wake them up, and that didn't work. In hindsight, I probably should've made a sub at half time.
"Too often I see the team, when we go 1-0 down, play a different way and we have to find a solution to that."
