Jay Stansfield has reflected on his season as he prepares to bid farewell to SJP ahead of his return to Fulham following Sunday's clash with Morecambe.
'Stanno' returned to wear the iconic number 9 shirt in August, on loan from the Premier League side, and has played an instrumental part in the Grecians League One campaign. With just a game to go before his loan deal ends, Jay has looked back on his personal season.
"I've loved every minute of it," Jay said.
"I've had a whole season of ups and downs, but I will remember every minute of it. I never felt any pressure, even though I knew there would be with the name and things. I just wanted to come here and play as much as possible, and learn as much as I can.
"Football is a long career and this might be the last time I'm here, but it might not be, perhaps later in my career. It's been a learning curve about getting exposure to first team football and it's challenges. Now I can go back to Fulham and show them what I've learnt.
"I've had a little trouble with injury, but now i'm hopefully fit enough to play on Sunday. I've got a lot of thanks to give to the supporters. They've supported me through ups and downs, they've stuck by me. Hopefully I can say goodbye by scoring in front of them on Sunday."
