Team captain Will Aimson cut a frustrated figure as he gave his thoughts on City's 3-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
City struggled and were made to pay for a poor first half at Highbury, as they suffered a ninth defeat in ten games.
"I apologise to the fans because that was unacceptable from us," Will said.
"We shoot ourselves in the foot with a sloppy goal again and then suddenly you're 3-0 down with a mountain to climb.
"We're always preparing right for the game but it just isn't going for us on the pitch and we need to tighten up at the back fast. Key moments at both ends are killing us really. We all have to be better."
