We are delighted to announce that midfielder Reece Cole has signed a new deal with the club until the end of the 2024/25 season, with the option to extend until the end of 2025/26.
25-year-old Cole joined the club after a successful trial in the summer - initially on a one-year deal - and has featured 17 times in red and white so far this season, scoring once, a 92nd minute winner over Reading back in August.
Cole has impressed Gary Caldwell in his short time with the club, and has been rewarded with a long-term commitment which will see him secure his stay at SJP for at least another year.
"I'm really happy and I am enjoying my time down here," Reece said of the news.
"From where I was last year, to this, my mind has been blown but I'm enjoying it. I've come in and proven to myself that I could play at this level. I always knew it but it was about performing week in week out and I think I've done that, and got the platform to express myself on the pitch.
"The manager was pleased with my work ethic day in day out, i'm enjoying training and I want to be someone who steps up as a leader.
"Most importantly I'm loving football again. There's no better feeling, even when I've been injured, and we've got that sort of environment where we all support each other."
Manager Gary Caldwell added: "Reece has had a fantastic start to the season with us and really shown his quality and his set-piece delivery, but i still think there is more to come from him.
"It was pretty early on that I decided to extend his deal. His fitness levels were much improved from when In knew him before and he's shown a real versatility on the pitch - we looked at it early and got it done.
"He is a great energy and a great motivator for other people. We're really pleased Reece has signed."
