Liam Oakes gave his thoughts following his man of the match performance in City's 2-1 win over Swindon Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
17-year-old Oakes, making his first competitive start in a senior St James Park fixture, gave an assured performance at right-wing back alongside captain Pierce Sweeney.
"It was a great experience to be honest, to see the fans in this stand who were right behind me with everything I did."
"I'm knackered to be honest, it was really tough on the legs from about the 60th minute. The intensity is a lot different to the under-18s, 90 minutes in the first team is so different to 90 with the 18s - you get tired a bit early but I just had to dig in."
