Exeter City Football Club has recently received a decision from the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) regarding Josh Key’s move to Swansea City.
Josh moved to the Welsh side in July 2023. Because he was under 24 years old a tribunal was instigated when the clubs were unable to agree on what Exeter City considered a suitable compensation sum.
Although the process was far more protracted than we would have liked, Exeter City is content with the final award. We are appreciative of the decision by the PFCC which recognises that sustainably-run clubs like Exeter City, who provide opportunity and develop younger players, should be fairly rewarded for their contribution to player development.
As stipulated by the PFCC, the proceedings and its award are confidential.
The club would like to record its thanks to Marcus Flitcroft, Matt Taylor, Josh Key and our legal representative Phil Bonner from Centrefield Law, for their contribution to the process.
