The manager reflects on 3-0 away win
“It was a really nice result – everything went to plan really. We put another contained performance in and built it slowly and as a manager you are pleased with that type of performance.
There were a number of players who stood out. Alan stood out with his goals, there is no doubt about it. Goals win matches and Alan has produced them.
I have to commend the midfield four, not just their effort but they covered the right areas continuously.
They were a very good group and I thought John O’Flynn was outstanding for the last half an hour coming off the bench.
There were a lot of good performances so I’m more than pleased. Because our midfield worked so hard it meant our centre halves could be in the right place continuously.
We rarely had our two central defenders out of the danger zones. Artur had another really good performance, he was immaculate today.
The pitch was fantastic and the weather made it even better. We got a real good game, Accrington put us under pressure and they were very well organized.
They had a route to goal and knew what they had to do. I can see them getting some good results here.
We’ve been intent on doing the simple things well and covered the right areas. We’ve got some real positive characters and it bodes well – I’m not getting carried away.
Alan’s second goal certainly outfoxed the goalkeeper, he did it on Tuesday as well against Aldershot to play Jamie in. Well it was certainly hard to read as a goalkeeper!
He’s done well today but he knows he fits with us and needs a couple of years of continuity and his best football will come out. Hopefully that will show with us."
