£600 given to both the club and Trust
Exeter City Football Club and the Supporters’ Trust have each received a donation of £600 from a long-serving fan, who has been invited to the derby fixture against Plymouth Argyle as a guest of the club. The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, decided to make his contribution to the Trust following the recent news that manager Paul Tisdale had renewed his membership. This followed the £600 gift to the football club a few months ago, which he made after not being able to attend regularly due to health problems.
The gentleman is 77 years old and comes from the Cullompton area, and first began following City in the early 1950s. He remembers fondly a time when he could park his motorbike on the kerb and walk straight into the stadium, even with crowds of 20,000 or more! His health has prevented him from attending in recent years, but he still follows all the matches on the radio and is a huge fan of Paul Tisdale and Steve Perryman.
Supporters’ Trust Chairman Laurence Overend was quick thank this generous fan and said; “If we were any other business, we wouldn’t be getting customers showing us this sort of generosity.
“We are truly grateful to this most generous fan for his kind donation and we hope both he and his nephew enjoy the upcoming Devon Derby.”
The club and the Trust are delighted to welcome him and his nephew to the match against the Pilgrims as our guests.
