Matt raises £180 to battle cancer
The start of December means the end of Movember. Companies selling men’s grooming products breathe a collective sigh of relief after an austere month. And it also means the crowning of the Exeter City 12th Mo 2012 – and this year it goes to Matt Young.
Matt, who is recognisable to many Grecians as producer of Kellow's Bootlaces on Radio Exe, also acts at City's social media adviser through his company Social Meme. And he fought off all opposition in the official Exeter City Movember team to raise the most cash this Movember, with all the proceeds going to battling cancer.
By opting for the ‘Trucker’ moustache, Matt squeezed a whopping £180 from his generous family and friends. Tony Barstow came in a narrow second with £166, with a classic ‘Ringo Starr’ moustache being his weapon of choice.
Matt said: “My Mo has been a talking point all month and I'm kinda sorry to see it go. However, my wife isn't! I'm chuffed I managed to raise a decent amount of money for such a great cause.
“I'm secretly most chuffed though to have won something for once… I haven't done that since winning the “Knobbly Knees” competition at Pontin's 1979.”
Prostate Cancer UK is the Football League's official charity partner for the 2012/13 season, so a huge thanks to those that have helped us change the face of men's health this Movember by raising cash and spreading awareness.
