FITC appeals for teams to join new Futsal tournament
Exeter City FC’s Community Charitable Trust is making an urgent appeal for five-a-side teams to come forward enter the inaugural men’s Futsal Masters Competition in Exeter next month. The competition, which is being held at 6pm on Sunday 9th December at St Peter’s C of E School in Quarry Lane, Heavitree, is being set up to raise awareness of the benefits of playing Futsal as opposed to traditional five-a-side football.
Futsal is a fast, exciting form of indoor football with five players per side and is all about quick, controlled passing and close-range shots. Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is the only form of indoor football recognised by FIFA.
“If you currently play five-a-side with a group of friends or work colleagues come along and give futsal a go,” says Jamie Vittles, the Trust manager. “If the competition is a success, we are proposing to set up the first ever men’s futsal league in Exeter in January.”
There is no fee to enter the competition and the winners will receive a set of Exeter City FC 2012/13 shirts for their team. The only requirements are players need to be over 16 and wear trainers and shinpads, plus a playing strip - bibs will be provided if there is a clash of colours.

And don't forget that FITC also runs casual futsal sessions for over-16s at St James School on Friday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, at the price of just £2.
