The Exeter City Quiz Returns

Heats begin on 10th October

The Great Exeter City Quiz 2012 The Quiz is back! Norman Warne’s special quiz, which has become so popular over the years, returns in October.

We’d welcome old and new teams alike to sign up to compete in one of the two heats on Wednesday 10th or 17th October with the opportunity to qualify for the Final where Flybe flight tickets will be the main prize!

The type of question and the special tactics you can use make this a totally different quiz to normal and an excellent evening’s entertainment. To book your team in or find out more, please contact Andy Gillard at the club The popular league format that will feature once again but with teams basically playing each other once in one big league during the evening in short matches over 4 questions.

Norman will have some interesting tactical quirks to keep us all on our toes! There will be automatic qualification from your league position plus a couple of extra ways to reach the Final and, of course, the popular Repechage will give you a second opportunity to join the automatic qualifiers in that Final if you don’t manage to do quite so well in the heats!

The familiar topical style of questions will feature but this time, after receiving several requests, we’ve decided to go for a different theme for each night so that you can try to pick your favourite subjects in the two heats.

Dates and information are as follows: Heat 1: Wednesday 10th October – Sports night. All questions about the great sporting year of 2012 (the vast majority after 1 April), including the Olympics, local, national and international sport.

Heat 2: Wednesday 17th October – Norman’s mixture! One question in each round will be about music (in any form). The second will be about or inspired by the Olympics past, present and future. The last two questions will be about the news – national and local

Repechage: Wednesday 24th October - Entertainment & Local. 3 questions will be drawn from the wide world of entertainment so expect topics like TV, radio, theatre, drama, books, films, art plus music categories as in Heat 2. The final question will be about Exeter – history, inhabitants, streets, monuments the lot!

The Final: Wednesday 31 October – As you’d expect the questions will be varied. One question will be about Entertainment (including music), a second about Sport and a third about News. The fourth question will be a Picture or Puzzle! All will start at 7.30pm promptly so please arrive in good time.

There is a maximum of five people per team and, this year, after deliberation, team entry will be £25 per night, so £5 per person. If you are lucky enough to proceed, an entry fee of only £5 per team will apply for your next appearance at the Repechage or Final night. If you do make the Final via the Repechage there would be no further charge. I do hope you still see this as exceptional value for this type of quiz, with the majority of teams getting two nights entertainment.

This is a fundraiser for the club. Everything we do raises valuable funds which go into Paul Tisdale’s budget as he seeks to improve the playing squad to take us to the highest level we can possibly manage.

An entry form can be downloaded by clicking here and it’s first come first served so the message is to book early for the return of the quiz! Forms should be passed to Andy Gillard at the club by post, fax or email and, if you’ve any questions at all, then either ring him on 01392 413954 or email him at andy.gillard@exetercityfc.co.uk.

The kids are just returning to school so, in solidarity, start revising alongside them!
