Plenty of kids to be involved this half-term
Exeter City’s Football in the Community Trust is once again running a full programme of popular children’s football roadshows during the May half term, following the success of the Easter events, which were attended by around 500 children from across the region.
There will be three different events in Exeter, plus courses in Dawlish, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Crediton, Tiverton, Seaton, Feniton, Okehampton, North Tawton and Barnstaple. Click here to see the booking page for dates in your region.
A two-day course on the astroturf at St Luke’s Science and Sports College kicks off half term, starting on Tuesday 28th May and costing £27 for the two days. A special futsal event for seven to 14 year olds takes place at the University’s Sports Hall on Thursday 30th May (£12) for children to get a flavour of the game credited by players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as being fundamental to the development of their careers.
A goalkeepers’ and strikers’ day is being held at St Luke’s on Friday 31st May (£15) and there is a special Exeter Event offer available where all three courses can be booked together for £49, a saving of almost 10 per cent on booking individually.
All roadshows apart from the futsal day are suitable for boys and girls aged from five to 14 and the main focus is fun and participation through team and individual games. All courses are delivered by Exeter City’s FA-qualified coaching staff.
“We had a really good time over the Easter holidays and were delighted to see lots of new faces,” says Scott Walker, sports development officer. “We’re hoping the sun comes out this half-term, but regardless of the weather, everyone always has a lot of fun – including the coaches – and it’s a great way of keeping kids active during the half-term.”
