More fun for kids by Football in the Community
Exeter City’s Football in the Community Charity is extending the range of its popular children’s football roadshows for the upcoming February half-term.
There will be four different events in Exeter, plus courses in Exmouth, Sidmouth, Crediton, Tiverton, Honiton, Feniton, Okehampton and Barnstaple.
A two-day course on the astroturf at St Lukes Science and Sports College kicks off half term, starting on Monday 18 February and costing £27 for the two days. A special goalkeepers and strikers day is being held at Middlemoor on Friday 22 February (£15), while on the same day a Star Tots event (£6) for three to six year olds will be held indoors at St Lukes.
The growing popularity of futsal – a fast-paced form of indoor football with five players per side – has encouraged the Charity to organise a special event at the University’s Sports Hall on Friday 22 February (£12) for children to get a flavour of the game credited by players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as being fundamental to the development of their careers.
Apart from the Star Tots event, all roadshows are suitable for boys and girls aged from five to 14. The main football focus is fun and participation through team and individual games and all courses are delivered by Exeter City’s FA-qualified coaching staff.
“We are really excited to be offering such a comprehensive programme of events this half term,” says Scott Walker, sports development officer for the Football in the Community Charity. “There really is something for everyone – from the age of three to 14. It’s a great way of making sure kids stay active during the half term and equips them with skills they can carry on practising at home.”
