City supporters kit out City’s Executive Box
Jody Wood, owner of JMT Wood Joinery Services, is not only a City sponsor and supporter – but also he heads a team of skilled joiners who are well known locally for their carpentry services. It was only natural then that the Grecians turned to Jody when they needed some display cabinets putting into one of the Club’s eight Executive Boxes.
To celebrate the club’s links with Brazil and in particular the unique relationship enjoyed with the famous Fluminense sporting club, who still own and use the Laranjeiras Stadium in Rio where the first ever match of the Brazilian national team was played in 1914 – against Exeter City of course! – the Grecians decided to designate Executive Box 3 as ‘The Fluminense Box’.
This involved making and erecting three special display cabinets featuring a number of items sent to the club from Fluminense in Brazil, including shirts, magazines, press articles, club pennants and flags.
Jody and his team made the items on site to measure and added the glass fronts once the memorabilia items were put in to the cabinets. The results are now there on the wall of Box 3 for all to see and are a fitting reminder of City’s history and the amazing story and legacy of that famous 1914 trip.
Jody was happy to say: “This is my club and JMT Wood has the skills to do the job. It was a pleasure to be asked to do the job and we are proud to have this link to the club’s history.”
Executive Boxes are available for matchday hire, not just to corporate organisations but to everyone in the community that puts together a group of 12 guests. If you want to enjoy a day in ‘The Fluminense Box’ then contact commercial@exetercityfc.co.uk or call on 01392 413954.
