Preview: Chippenham Town v Exeter City

Chippenham Town v Exeter City
Wednesday 31st July, 7.45pm
Hardenhuish Stadium
Pre-season friendly

For the final time before the season begins, Exeter City will have a run-out in a friendly with no points at stake against Chippenham.

But places amongst the matchday squad for forthcoming fixtures will be in the offing for the young Grecians.  Paul Tisdale announced after the Salisbury game that the trip to Hardenhuish Park will get game-time for players that are unlikely to feature against Bristol Rovers on Saturday – but it does give them one final opportunity to gain match-sharpness and to impress the backroom staff.

So it’ll be a young side that head up the M5 to form an Exeter City representative XI.  So far, the Grecians have triumphed on all four occasions versus lower-league opposition and a win against the Bluebirds would confirm a 100 per cent record against clubs in the Non-League.

For Southern League Premier side Chippenham, it offers a final run-out before their campaign begins away to Banbury in a little over two weeks.  The Wiltshire outfit have hosted sides from Ipswich and Swansea so far in pre-season as well as other local clubs, and will be hoping to build on a 15th-placed league finish last year.
