Looking onwards to the Grecians’ visit to the Ray Mac
Salisbury City v Exeter City
Friday 26th July, 7.30pm
Raymond McEnhill Stadium
Pre-season friendly
City’s penultimate pre-season fixture will take place against Salisbury City, with the two sides now entering the final stages of preparation for the 2013/14 campaign.
The Whites are preparing for a campaign in the Conference National, having gone through the play-off route to win a space in England’s fifth tier.
They had looked nailed on for automatic promotion until they were pipped to the post by Welling, and instead needed to overcome Chelmsford in the semi-final before setting up a final meeting against Dover. Salisbury threw away their 1-0 lead in the 90th minute against the Kent side, but rallied in an action-packed extra-time period to ultimately triumph 3-2 when the 120 minutes were complete.
Exeter have defeated all three lower-league opponents they have faced so far – 2-0 wins against Clevedon and Buckland were followed by a 3-1 win at Weston-super-Mare. But the Salisbury side – who boast former Exeter winger Elliott Frear in their ranks – have been preparing well for life in the Conference and will provide another stern test for the Grecians.
