Duo on board with the Grecians for coming season
We’re pleased to announce that Exeter City duo Tommy Doherty and John O’Flynn have both signed contracts at St James Park, and will be playing in red and white for the 2013/14 season.
Flynny, who weighed in with 12 goals last season in spite of missing a month out with injury after the turn of the year, will embark on his fourth campaign with the Grecians since joining from Barnet in 2010.
Meanwhile, Doherty will begin his second term with Exeter after impressing in the heart of midfield last term. A veteran of over 400 career games, the midfielder stamped his authority on a number of matches – with instrumental performances at Morecambe and Port Vale being particular highlights – but ended the season with a niggling back injury.
However, both are now back in great shape and are raring to go when the squad reconvene for pre-season training on Monday.
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale spoke of his happiness that the pair have accepted their contract offers and will continue their spells with the Grecians. “I’m delighted that we have managed to retain two excellent characters in Tommy and Flynny,” said Tis. “They are both great footballers and exceptional professionals, and that combination will be important to us this season.
“We need our experienced players and everyone at the club to show real character this season, and that won’t be a problem for them. We know what we’re up against and those two will help us face our challenge head-on and without fear.”
