Neil Le Milliere amongst the three nominees for nationwide award
The shortlist for the npower Fan of the Year Award at the Football League Awards 2013 has been revealed on BBC 5Live’s 606 programme.
The shortlist is comprised of one fan from each division, with the three fans in contention to receive the honour being Derby County supporter Nick Webster, Coventry City’s Paty Raybould and our very own Exeter City fan Neil Le Milliere.
Rams fan Nick received a staggering number of nominations from fellow fans. He is known as the ‘Derby County Flag man’, travelling to every home and away match carrying one of the biggest fan flags there is. He also arranges travel for fans to get to games, and helps ensure there is a great atmosphere at Pride Park.
Meanwhile, Pat has been a Coventry City supporter since 1962. She is both a home and an away season ticket holder and never misses a game. In those 41 years she has not only been a fan in the stands but has also contributed to the club in various other capacities. Most notably, she volunteers on matchdays and runs the Coventry City Family Zone in order to pass on her love of the team to the next generation.
The nominees are completed by Exeter City fan Neil. He is a co-opted member of the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust, a member of Supporters Direct and founder of the London Exiles. Neil researches the routes and accommodation for fans to get to Exeter’s games, and also mans and runs a bottle bar at the ground with all the profits going back to the club. Despite the distance he lives from his beloved St James Park, he contributes an enormous amount to improve the experience of fellow Grecians.
This year’s Football League Awards sees a total of 17 awards with the winners being announced at the gala ceremony at The Brewery, London on Sunday 24th March 2013.
