Who is hot in the League 2 promotion race?
The Football League’s title sponsor talks us through the market movers in Sky Bet League 2 following this weekend’s action.
Mansfield have been cut from 11/2 to 4/1 for promotion after ending the unbeaten start of title favourites Chesterfield with a 1-0 victory at the Proact Stadium.
However Chesterfield remain odds-on for promotion at 1/3 and 13/8 to win Sky Bet League 2 despite having their 100 per cent home record ended in front of over 10,000 fans.
Paul Cox’s men were 100/30 outsiders heading into the derby but claimed all three points thanks to Calvin Andrew’s first goal for the club.
The result means the promotion betting is looking increasingly clustered, with a solitary point separating second from sixth and 12 clubs currently single figure odds to go up, compared to eight in Sky Bet League 1.
Oxford’s promotion odds have come back in to 6/4 after bouncing back from their first league defeat of the season at the hands of Chesterfield with a 3-1 victory at Hartlepool.
Fleetwood remain second favourites for the title at 7/2 despite their 2-1 home defeat to Exeter, who are 5/1 for promotion and 33/1 to claim top spot.
Fifth-placed Rochdale are 11/4 for promotion after their 3-2 win over Wycombe while Portsmouth’s 4-2 defeat at York saw them drift out to 3/1 alongside Scunthorpe (also 3/1), who drew 2-2 at fellow promotion hopefuls Burton (5/1 to go up).
