City manager speaks about arrival of Welshman
24-year-old defender Christian Ribeiro became the latest player to join the ranks at Exeter City when his signing was announced on Thursday, and manager Paul Tisdale was pleased to have his signature. The Welshman isn’t currently match-fit, having injured himself during the final week of pre-season whilst training at the Cat & Fiddle.
The Grecians manager is looking forward to getting him back to fitness so that he can begin contributing to Exeter’s efforts sooner rather than later.
In particular he felt that the former Scunthorpe man had a good blend of current ability and experience and potential for the future, and felt that he has the tools to become a good addition to the team.
“Christian is a versatile player that can play in two or three positions,” said Tis. “He’s strong, he has good experience and good quality and he is someone that suits Exeter City.
“In many aspects he is potentially a good signing. I’m hoping that he comes back to fitness, stays fit and gets in the team. He will play – there’s no doubt about it, he’ll play football as soon as he’s fit.
“He’s only 24, but he has played enough games to have acquired some League knowhow. He is a good mixture of talent and potential.
“He is somebody of a good age that still has lots of years and potential ahead of him, and has played League football – he’s a good combination.”
