Gary Sutton to oversee Pompey visit
Sutton has been a regular in the lower leagues and Conference since 2002, refereeing City on four occasions during their non-League days. The most notable of these was the thrilling 4-4 draw at Burton on the final day of the 2007/08 season.
Sutton has officiated at SJP twice before, firstly for the 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth in 2011 and then for the 1-1 draw with Stevenage a year later. His most recent City game was the excellent 2-0 win at Port Vale in February last year, with Grecians midfielder Mark Molesley receiving his marching orders from Sutton for an off-the-ball incident in the closing stages.
This season Sutton has taken charge of 14 games, showing 47 yellow cards and dismissing three players. His most recent red card was shown to Gavin Mahon, as the then-Portsmouth player was sent-off in Pompey’s FA Cup defeat at Stevenage.
