Midfielder looks forward to the new campaign
After it was announced on Thursday that Jimmy Keohane had signed a new deal with the Grecians, the Irish midfielder admitted that he can’t wait for the 2014/15 campaign to kick off again in August.
He also thanked the supporters for all the kind messages he had received when his new contract was announced.
“I’m really pleased to sign back and I’m looking forward to the season starting again, and getting back playing,” said Jimmy.
“I’m always grateful for the messages that I get sent on Twitter and Facebook – it was really nice to feel wanted here. You always want to feel wanted, and the fans sending me messages was great.
“I really like the club here and I like the people in and around the club. The staff are great and it’s a nice family club with a good atmosphere around the place. I’m looking forward to enjoying another good season.
“I’ve got a lot of friends down here and some family – it’s a nice place to be.”
Looking ahead to the coming season, the midfielder – who made 21 first-team appearances last season and featured heavily in the Under-21 Premier League Cup campaign – is excited at the potential for the young squad.
He is also targeting the chance to feature more prominently in the Grecians’ first-team in the coming season.
“There’s some really good young players here which is really exciting for the club,” he continued. “We just need to keep our heads down and keep working hard, and I’m sure we’ll do alright.
“I want to be a regular and play every game, so hopefully I can put a good marker down in pre-season and when the first game comes I’ll be on the teamsheet.”
