Dates for your diary ahead of the new season
The draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup will be released on Tuesday 17th June at 10am, it was announced today.
The Grecians have had a couple of high-profile home ties in the League Cup in recent seasons. Queens Park Rangers were our guests last season, and Crystal Palace and Liverpool were visitors in the previous two seasons.
The televised clashes for the first round will take place on Monday 11th August 7.45pm and Wednesday 13th August 7.45pm, with all other ties likely to take place on Tuesday 12th August.
And as previously announced, the Sky Bet League 2 fixture list will be released promptly at 9am on Wednesday 18th June for all clubs.
City kicked off the last campaign at home against rivals Bristol Rovers, with Sam Parkin heading the winner after Eliot Richards, who would later become a City loanee, had pegged back Danny Coles' opener against his former club.
There will be fewer local derbies to look out for this time, following the relegation of Torquay United and Bristol Rovers to the Conference. But there will be meetings with recently relegated sides Carlisle, Tranmere, Shrewsbury and Stevenage as well as games against Luton and Cambridge, who both ended their Football League exile this summer.
