Carl Boyeson to oversee Newport clash
The experienced Carl Boyeson has been selected to referee City’s first ever trip to Rodney Parade.
Boyeson started refereeing in the Football League in the 2002/03 season, and ominously was in charge as City went down to a 4-0 away defeat in Wales, as Wrexham collected all three points that day.
Since City’s return to the Football League Boyeson has had the whistle on three occasions. He took in the 2-1 away win against Luton in the promotion run-in in 2009, the 2-0 home defeat to Bournemouth at the start of the 2011/12 season and the comfortable 3-0 win over Burton last campaign.
This season Boyeson has refereed 25 games, showing 77 yellow cards and just the two reds, most recently sending off Watford’s Gabriele Angella in their 1-1 draw at Bournemouth in January.
