Tis confirms Nicholls loan extension

Forward to further loan from Northampton

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has confirmed that an agreement is in place with Northampton Town to extend the loan period of Alex Nicholls.

The former Walsall forward joined the Grecians on an emergency loan ahead of the home fixture against Mansfield Town earlier this month, and his month-long loan spell was due to expire following this weekend’s game against Bury.

Now the principles are agree to extend the terms of the loan for a further month, as City prepare for a busy October.

However under the terms of the arrangement, the Cobblers have the option of recalling the 26-year-old at any time with just 24 hours’ notice after the initial 28-day period.

Paul said: “We have the agreement with Northampton that his loan will continue, so that will be extended for another month.

“But of course what will now happen will that he will now be on a 24-hour recall.  Whereas for the first month he was ours for that five-match period, now he is always one phone-call away from going back.

“So we’re not quite secure with his availability as we have been but hopefully we’ll get through Saturday and he’ll be available for us next week at Dagenham as well.  The horizon changes slightly now we know he can go back, and we just hope he can stay with us for as long as possible.

“He has complemented the squad and the way we play, he has fitted in very well, he is liked very much, he has played very well – it’s a shame he’s not ours!”
