The Great Exeter City Quiz has been running now for over 10 years and is still as popular as ever, thanks to the unique format designed and patented by Norman Warne and his team.
The league system played out each night sees teams play ‘fixtures’ against each other and creates a healthy atmosphere of competition – and this year’s quiz was no exception!
Two competitive heats (one saw six possible winners going into the last match!) and a repechage gave us the 18 teams of finalists, who packed the Apple Suite at the club. It was nip and tuck and the lead changed many times – but past winners, H Block, used their experience to peak at the right time and steal victory again in the last match.
The team, captained by Leonie Welch, are pictured with their trophy and, more importantly, the Flybe ticket vouchers, the top prize donated by main club sponsor, Flybe, who have supported the quiz since it started.
Look out for the next version of the quiz next season. The questions are topical and you’ll kick yourself when you hear the answers. Also Norman always arranges some sort of joker-style tactic to play which makes this more than just a simple quiz and all the more fun for it too!
