Senior Reds
Following an informal conversation by a small group of Exeter City supporters at a club Christmas Party the Seniors Reds group was launched in 2012 by Steve Perryman MBE and has City legends Alan Banks and Jimmy Giles as our founders and patrons.
There is no defined age limit to join the group so membership is very much open to all longstanding Exeter City supporters. As of October 2024 Seniors Reds have 130 members.
You can join for only £5 for a year (although some members choose to donate a little more) and then you can enjoy our programme of guest speakers and social activities.
We produced a Senior Reds bulletin and circulated it to members when face-to-face meetings weren’t possible and as it proved so popular we are currently exploring the possibility of reintroducing it.
The Senior Reds also have their own Facebook page. Click here to find out more about the Senior Reds
What do Senior Reds do?
We hold monthly meetings which always begin with an opportunity for members to have a chat over a tea or coffee and a couple of biscuits. That is usually followed by a guest speaker. Recently these have included former players such as Peter Shearing, Dave Gibson, John Delve, Ray Pratt, Shaun Taylor, Dean Edwards and Phil King.
Speakers from the club’s current non-playing staff have recently included Kevin Nicholson, Kevin Miller, Marcus Flitcroft and Scott Palfrey, Craig Bratt and Zandie Thornton (from the social media team).
Abbie Britton has become an annual visitor updating us on the progress of Exeter City Women’s team.
We have also enjoyed recent presentations by Dr David Treharne on the early years of the Supporter’s Trust, one about the life and career of Dick Pym and another on the tale of two century old footballs.
Recent social events have included Senior Reds being hosted at the Cliff Hill training ground by the Academy’s Aran Pugh and a group of members attending a Tiverton Town home match.
What is the membership fee spent on?
One of Senior Reds’ aims is to help encourage and support the younger generation of fans and players so in this regard we sponsor a different under 16s player each season.
In the past these have included Jordan Dyer and Sonny Cox and for the 2024/25 season it will be Luca Struthers.
Besides our annual support of an under-16s player we also frequently fund or contribute to a variety of Exeter City activities and respond to one-off requests from the club. Recent examples of these have included donations towards the Fanzone canopy and the purchase of a bench there, a contribution to the Recovery Room at the training ground, the sponsorship of Exeter City Women’s Jaydee Seaman for the 2024/25 season and donations to Exeter City’s Museum and Team Evo.
