Once again, Exeter City supporters will have the chance to ‘Play at the Park’ at the end of the season in a charity tournament.
Following on from our success in 2014, we are delighted that Exeter City, through Football in the Community (FITC), are one of only six clubs nationally to once again have been asked by the Football League to organise a football tournament/festival in aid of their chosen charity for this season, Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK).
This will take place at St James Park on Sunday 3rd May 2015, following the final home game of the season and we are looking for people, teams and local businesses to take part in the event, which will start at 10am.
On the day, we will be running two men’s competitions, one for over-16s and one specifically for over-35s, and the format will be six-a-side, with a maximum of 10 people in a squad. Places are limited and the entry cost will be a minimum of £200 per team.
There will be prizes on offer, including a team Golden Boot award and Exeter City shirts for the winning team in each tournament.
All team registration money will go to PCUK and the aim is for each team to raise as much sponsorship money as possible for the charity, through fundraising in the run-up to the event and on the day. The two teams in each tournament who raise the most sponsorship money will get use of the Grecians’ home and away dressing rooms and we are hoping teams will be as innovative as possible in raising money.
On the day we are hoping to get as many families and friends to St James Park to make it a real fun and family atmosphere.
We have also planned a presentation and fun quiz night at St James Park on Wednesday 20th May – more details to follow!
There will be various sponsorship and hospitality opportunities for local businesses from as little as £50 – please contact Jeff Merrett, FITC fundraising officer, on jeff.merrett@exetercityfc.co.uk or 07796 442144 for more information – and on the day there will be activities and entertainment taking place, including ground tours.
Fun, food and drink will be available throughout the event so please consider supporting us and together we will ensure maximum support for Prostate Cancer UK.
