Report
Goals from Ryan Harley and Troy Brown earned Exeter City all three points at Victoria Road.
Paul Tisdale gave midfielder Manny Oyeleke his first league start for the Grecians at the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium, while David Noble returned to the side after missing out against Swindon and Northampton. Lee Holmes started at Victoria Road after an impressive showing in the second half at Sixfields.
An offside flag denied the Daggers an eighth-minute opener, as Nyron Nosworthy headed in Dagenham captain Andre Boucaud's free-kick. One penalty appeal was waved away for each side as first Dagenham's Jodi Jones went down softly under the challenge of Jordan Tillson, and then David Noble was felled at the opposite end.
Despite the Daggers' early pressure, City started turning it on at the half-hour mark, with Manny Oyeleke shooting over and Lee Holmes having a shot deflected out for a corner after having played a one-two with Tom Nichols.
City's rise in tempo toward the end of the first period was rewarded with the opening goal on thirty-six minutes. After Alex Nicholls' cross was nipped away from Tom Nichols by the Dagenham defence, Ryan Harley followed up with a cool rebound that sailed beyond Daggers goalkeeper Mark Cousins.
HALF-TIME: DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 0-1 EXETER CITY
After an odd decision where referee Roger East appeared to signal for an offisde against the Grecians before giving Paul Tisdale's side a corner, the visitors took advantage of their stroke of luck. Lee Holmes whipped in the corner for Troy Brown to convert his first Exeter City goal.
Dagenham subs Ashley Hemmings and Matt McClure were both heavily involved immediately after entering play, with the former seemingly felling Alex Nicholls as the last man with the Grecians man played through by Manny Oyeleke, but the referee awarded not even a free-kick. Seconds later, McClure struck the bar for the hosts.
Bobby Olejnik pulled off a fine save to deny Daggers captain Andre Boucaud from range, but Jodi Jones did pull one back for the Daggers with four minutes of normal time to play. Another huge Olejnik save stopped the final Daggers sub, Ashley Chambers, an equaliser as the game ticked past ninety minutes, but City defended valiantly in injury-time to get a first away league win of the season.
